Union Pacific Article on the Avalanche
Scott gets the UP newsletter and they printed a little article about the avalanche. Doesn't go into detail about what had happened or anything. The picture shows how buried the crews were.

Got Pizza?
While visiting Scott this weekend he told us about a pizza him and the guys got when they had a party one night before they sent most of the crews home. A 2 foot pizza! I personally didn't think it was all that great. I made it through 5 bites and couldn't handle anymore. Austin's eyes about bugged right out of his head when he saw how big it was.
As we were packing up the car to leave Scott wanted to open up the box of ammo he bought. It was locked with a zip tie so he asked to use Austin's knife. He forgot the rule to cut away from you.
I wanted to take him to the urgent care to get a stitch or two but he said no. He had to ask the front desk for a band-aid. We got it on but it didn't last long. An hour after we got home he called and told me it's gushing again. He had to wake up his driver to take him to Rite Aid to get some glue and band-aides. I think that did the trick but if he calls again i am heading up there to get him stitched.

Scott's Pics Of The Snow
Scott is up in Truckee doing snow service again. The snow is a lot worse than it was when we were up there for Christmas. It had snowed 100+ ft over the last 9 days. The weather reports say back to back snow storms for the next 7 days. The crews are working around the clock to keep the tracks clear. They are sometimes working 12 - 14 hours straight. Scott went up on Saturday the 19th. He had to go up by train because the roads were closed. It had snowed so much up there on the mountain that there were a few avalanches. The train snow plow didn't get up there in time to clear the tracks so Scott had to go through them. That could be kinda scary cause you don't know if there is a boulder or a tree under the snow which can cause the train to derail or get stuck and then the guys are stuck for hours. With the amount of snow up there, there isn't any way for relief crews or rescue crews to get to them to help. We're not sure how long he will be up there. Two weeks is my guess. Could be shorter, could be longer. We'll see.
Here are some photos Scott has sent me over the last few days. I'll keep adding them as he sends them if there are any.

Some Photos Of Scott's Work
Scott sent me a few photos of the work he's been doing up in the Truckee mountains. He's having lots of fun blowing the snow of the side of the mountain.
This one is: he cleared off the tracks on the right and is in the process of clearing the track he's on to the left
Showing the snow coming down while he's trying to clear it
A view of the parking lot at the hotel.
